Samsung's Secret Android XR Headset

Marques Brownlee tried a development version of the first Samsung-Google headset based on AndroidXR. Very interesting to see this development.

All apps from the Android Play Store work, including 2D apps from a phone or tablet, nice! Plus there’s spatial apps for real 3D XR usage. It has both hand- and eye tracking, but not much more detail on the hardware itself.

There’s Gemini integration (Google’s AI chat bot), which can see and interpret what you’re seeing in the headset. And converse with it about content, or have it launch apps or interact with the UI through voice. Plus you can circle a region in your vision and have Gemini search that object or scene.

Ps Looks a lot like a Vision Pro

That auto lens adjust feature is really nice!

Never used a Varjo XR-3 or XR-4?

No  But good to know that it is more widely used already.

Really looking forward to getting my hands on the Android XR platform.
Im not a big fan of passthrough devices for everyday use, but the videos showing the OS make me properly excited for an actually useful set of glasses.
