No link to research and education whatsover, but really interesting to see such a use of mixed reality being sold as a complete product, based on a Microsoft HoloLens 2. Hefty price tag, at €13.480,00 EUR.

It’s using the spatial mapping feature to get the geometry of the green:
The ball start position and hole position need to be set manually (“I’m actually pressing that with my finger in the goggles, it’s madness” ):
Which is then used together to indicate the putting direction to use (red line) in order for the ball to go into the hole (blue path):
